In Memory of Bill

Bill left us at 63 years of age on Thursday, July 29, 2010.

He was a two time past president of the Delaware Professional Photographers. At the time of his death he was serving as Chairman of the Board.

In 1985, together with 5 other local businesspersons Bill helped form the present Delaware Professional Photographers Association. We had over 55 members when we began in the spring of ’85. Bill himself became the president in 1989 and again in 2007 thru 2009. Bill prided himself on winning many print competitions while being a member of the DPP. In the days when film was the only media used, Mr. Lattomus entered and won with many of the finest images that could be found.

Mr. Lattomus and his partner, Frank Shahan, captured many weddings and events in the Wilmington – Baltimore – Philadelphia Areas during the span of the last 30+ years. A classical photographer known for his gorgeous full length bridal images, Lattomus’ camera room was state of the art, with the finest equipment, props and backgrounds. At the time of his death, many of the same cameras and photo equipment can be found in his studio. Bill was not quick to begin using the digital media, but found comfort in still using film for he trusted the end result.

We hope Bill finds contentment in being with his new photographic mentor… The LORD.

12317 Coastal Highway, Milton, DE. 19968

August 17th begins at 1 PM at RJ Dayton Studio with light fare and at 2 PM we’ll convene in Ray’s projection room to view the 3rd state competition of the year.

We should finish the competition by 5 PM and join in the picnic festivities and swimming in the pool. Burgers, hot dogs, rolls, soda / cold drinks will be provided, but covered dishes are requested from the membership.

Please call Peggy Parkinson at: 302.238.7235 to let her know you are coming and what covered dish you will be bringing.

Some members may begin their “shoot-out session” at 5 if they want to.

The Shoot-Out will be extended until 7:30 PM and is isolated to only Ray’s property lines. Members can use models or other members to make their images, or even some items in and around the studio area.

There will be two categories….

1/ Image is directly out of the camera with no artwork involved.

2/ Image can be “adjusted” anyway the maker feels necessary to win.

The best part of this Shoot-out is the judging. Your board has discussed for a long time how the judging should proceed. Many wanted to have only master photogs of DPP as the judges (which means they couldn’t enter). Others wanted to select 3 CPPs, and others weren’t sure they wanted any of the Delaware Membership as judges. However the board decided and unanimously agreed that the entire membership would be the judge and signal by raising their hands in voting for the image.

This is the first time we are going to offer a Shoot-Out and see if the membership will enjoy it and have fun doing it.

The prizes are given by Morephotos and DPP:

1/ Out of the Camera - A Free Designed Website with two free months service and a reduced monthly fee after the first two free months for $29 for six months . A $450 Value Door Prize Plus (1) free DPP image competition case fee of $30.

2/ Altered Image - A custom Search Engine Optimization Package to drive traffic to your Website. A $425 Value Door Prize plus a free print case fee of $30.

Ranked among photography’s top professionals, Jill A. Bochicchio has crafted a reputation for creativity and excellence. The Maryland Professional Photographer’s Association (MDPPA) named her Photographer of the Year for five consecutive years. Eastman-Kodak Corporation honored her with four Gallery Awards for Photographic Excellence.

Her outstanding fine art and commercial photographs have appeared in MDPPA’s Traveling Loan Collection, the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Loan Collection, Masters Loan Collection, and private art exhibits. Her portraits of individuals, children, families and business leaders throughout the region are widely recognized for their warmth and artistry.

Ms. Bochicchio has earned both the Master of Photography degree in 1986 and a Craftsman degree 1987 and PPA Certification in 1985. She served as President of the MPPA in 1988 and Chairman of the board in 1989. Her articles have appeared in several photography magazines and she is a popular speaker before amateur and professional photographic organizations.

Ms. Bochicchio has been the official photographer for the National Philharmonic Orchestra for the past 15 years.

Bochicchio Photography is located in Rockville, MD.

Kimberly Phillips-Simonetti, M. Photog., Cr.

<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-248" title="Kimberly Phillips-Simonetti, M.
Kimberly displayed a natural talent for painting while growing up in and around the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland where she continues to live today. An artist, Kimberly dabbled in several mediums until high school, when her passion for photography began. She continued to study photography both inside and outside of the classroom while attending the University of Maryland, apprenticing with several local master photographers.

In 1984, Kimberly went out on her own and became a renowned wedding photographer in the Baltimore area. Her success enabled her to purchase and completely renovate a circa 1912 home and to open Kimberly Studio’s in 1991. Her new studio specialized in portraiture where Kimberly was able to meld together her two great loves, art and photography, into her unique, highly stylized and very beautiful style of portraiture.

Kimberly has her Masters in Photography and an Associate Fellow in Photography from the Maryland Professional Photographers Association. She attends several conferences a year to continue developing herself both artistically and professionally, and as a result, her client’s portraits continue to be both innovative and beautiful, receiving all the benefits of the latest techniques in digital enhancement.

As a noted teacher/lecturer, Kimberly speaks at several professional photography conferences throughout the United States each year and has also served as judge for several different photography organizations. She’s been published in several hard bound photography collection books and many magazines, including the Professional Photographer’s Magazine where one of Kimberly’s prints was selected to become one of only fifty images being retained for the Professional Photographers of America (PPofA) archive for 1997. She’s the recipient of many major awards, including several Fuji Masterpiece Awards, Maryland’s Portrait Photographer of the Year for three years running, as well as, being twice recognized by a Maryland Senate Resolution for her achievements as an outstanding portrait photographer.

Having grown up in the area, Kimberly is very involved in her community, actively donating her services and contributing to many local charities, schools and hospitals. While her portraits may currently be found hanging at several premiere mall locations in the Baltimore area, Kimberly, her husband Dave, their dog Misty and two Siamese cats, Sunny and Stormy may usually be found enjoying their home/studio in Owings Mills, Maryland.
